In the heart of downtown Bellefontaine, a new chapter is unfolding within the walls of a treasured landmark. The Maxwell Events is more than just our newest venue—it’s a heartfelt revival of the historic Grace AME Church, a place that has stood as a beacon of community and spirit for generations.
From the very beginning, our vision for The Maxwell was rooted in respect. We knew that if these walls could talk, they would tell stories of song, celebration, and connection. It has been our privilege to breathe new life into this sacred space, preserving its soul while preparing it for a new era of gatherings and joy.
One of our greatest passions during the renovation was the meticulous restoration of the stunning stained glass windows. These works of art have once again come alive, catching the sunlight in the same magical way they did over a century ago. Every panel tells a piece of history, and now, they will witness new memories being made beneath their vibrant glow.
We also opened the historic choir loft, allowing it to once again overlook the soaring vaulted ceilings—now a breathtaking focal point of the venue. This reawakening brings an energy and grandeur back into the building, a reminder that music, laughter, and love are meant to fill this space once more.
As we prepare to welcome weddings, corporate events, and community celebrations, our hearts are full of gratitude. We are honored to be stewards of this building’s next chapter and to share it with the people who have always been at the center of our purpose—our Bellefontaine community.
